Sculptural Knitting
In order to circumvent buying textiles from unknown sources, in terms of environmental responsibility and labor practices, I took a RISD class to learn machine knitting.
All yarns used are industrial remnants from the fashion industry.
To create body and sculptural form, ultra-fine stainless steel wire, silk-covered stainless steel wire, and elastane were used.
Texture, form and color were derived from the coastal landscape and wildlife.
